Have you ever wondered what it would be like to watch a 3D movie without using those cumbersome glasses? Wearing 3D glasses, especially on top of eyeglasses may be challenging. But don’t worry, ASUS has you covered on every front! Now, you can experience 3D technology on your laptops without using any 3D glasses. It’s the ASUS Spatial Vision technology.
Glasses-free 3D has been attempted numerous times over the years by laptop, and 3D TV manufacturers, largely without much success. But with 3D content for VR and AR applications growing in popularity, ASUS is prepared to give it another go with its Spatial Vision technology.
Eye-tracking (using two cameras) is also integrated using what it refers to as an “autostereoscopic” display. According to ASUS, the technology combines software tools (OpenXR is supported for AR and VR, and Nvidia Omniverse is supported for 3D group collaboration) with proprietary optical and real-time rendering technology.
ASUS Spatial Vision at CES 2023
At the annual tech event CES 2023, ASUS, the world’s leading electronics manufacturer, came up with amazing innovation and talked about taking a shot at the elusive glasses-free 3D tech with its new Pro Art Studio 16 laptop. The new 16-inch 3D OLED screened monitor with built-in eye-tracking is the world’s first high-definition portable 3D computer monitor in the market.

ASUS Spatial Vision technology bridges two worlds to bring us the world’s first glasses-free 3D OLED autostereoscopic laptop. Incorporating breakthrough optical and real-time rendering technology, along with exclusive software tools, Spatial Vision claims to deliver an unforgettable 3D experience that will change the way we create, forever.
ASUS Spatial Vision: Recommended 3D OLED Laptops
Here are the laptops on which you can experience the 3D OLED technology without using any glasses.
Vivobook Pro 16 3D OLED (K6604)
With the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED, you may get the best creative experience! It comes equipped with the latest Intel CoreTM HX55 desktop-level processor, up to an NVIDIA® GeForce® RTXTM 4070 Laptop GPU, and the first 16-inch 3.2K 120 Hz 3D OLED Dolby Vision display, enabling optimal performance for any work, no matter how difficult. This powerhouse is kept cool and silent by ASUS IceCool Pro thermal technology, with up to 150 W TDP, two fans, and four vents.
ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED (H7604)
ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED mobile workstation transcends the ordinary and goes far beyond the extraordinary. Its unstoppable 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 HX processor, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 graphics, vast amounts of memory and ultrafast storage will supercharge your content creation workflow and let your imagination do what it does best.
2D/3D Alluring Switch
The display’s ability to switch between 2D and 3D modes with the press of a single button is astonishing. A high-resolution, high-refresh-rate OLED display is available in 2D mode. In 3D mode, a layer of microscopic lenticular lenses comes into play, showing slightly different images to your left and right eyes.
It can be challenging to get that right if you only rely on the display. That’s where the eye-tracking camera mounted above the screen comes in. The 3D effect is kept in focus while you move and you can view a 3D object from different angles by turning your head. It can detect your eye position in real time and adjust the on-screen imagery as you move.

Just One Person, Please
Eye tracking could also be a hurdle with spatial vision and many of the underlying technologies. They rely on eye tracking, which can currently only focus on one person at a time and is a very challenging task in and of itself. Bringing two or three other people is going to be exponentially more difficult.
Time to Shine Creative Geeks
Visualisation, 3D content creation, video streaming, and gaming because being able to see every detail in the heat of battle is a must for competitive gaming, these are just a few of the new and improved experiences that ASUS Spatial Vision technology delivers for creativity, enjoyment, and more. Additionally, it presents enormous potential for quickly expanding metaverse applications.
Compatible with Everything
ASUS says Spatial Vision is compatible with “most creator software and file formats.”
ASUS Spatial Vision technology supports a wide range of creative tools and file types to maximise compatibility both now and in the future. Additionally, it supports OpenXR, the newest open standard that well-known companies and sectors accept.
ASUS Spatial Vision – Additional Tools
As part of its vision to create a forward-thinking ecosystem around 3D technologies, ASUS Spatial Vision also offers developers development tools based on SR (Simulated Reality) along with supporting materials and guidelines. These tools cover gesture control, interactive learning, and many other concepts.
ASUS’s new laptops follow a trend of laptops with CES 2023 debuts using Intel 13th-generation Raptor Lake processors and RTX 4000 series graphics cards in addition to the 3D panels. New models from Alienware, Razer, Acer, and MSI are among them. One of the first laptops to accept PCIe 5.0 SSDs is the upcoming flagship model from MSI.
Conclusion
ASUS Spatial Vision is an innovative 3D technology that allows users to experience the beauty of 3D without glasses. This technology is still in its early stages, but ASUS is already leading the way in terms of innovation.
